RETAIL PRICES IN LONDON. The New Zealand Meat Producers' Board has been advised by its London manager, - that the following retail prices are being quoted for New Zea- , land lamb and mutton retailed in Lon- - ; don on 3rd. January, 19291
Noav Zealand Lamb:— Legs, 15d.; shoulders, lid.; loins, 13d.; necks, Bd.; breasts, sd. New .Zealand Mutton (Wether):--Legs, lid.; shoulders, 10d.: loins, 10d-.; necks, 7d.; breasts,'id. Tallow, Hemp, and Cereals. The department of Agriculture' Ims received the following cablegram, dated sth instant, from the High Commissioner for -New Zealand, London:
TalloAv: —Market quiet.. Limited demand at auction and no change in
prices. Hemp: —Manila —strong market on active demand from Japan and America and scarcity of offers. “J ” grade for January-March shipment sold up to* £39/10/-- Closing value £lO. Output to 31st, December, 1928, 1,400,000 bales against 1,29.1,000-in previous year. Sisal;—Market firm and sellers’ holding for January-M arch #hipmeut at £ll/5/- to £ll/10/- for No. 1 and £3?/15/- tc £39/5/- for No. 2 Early position at 10/- discount. New Zealand market quiet with most interest shown in lower grades. Closes more active and business has been done in January-Eebruary shipments Highpoiuts £36; Common £3l; Rejected £3Q; and Fcbruary-April shpiments of Fair at £3l.
Oats: —Dull and consumptive demand slow. English early, are plenti; ful, ichoice bold -white making 29/6 to 30/-. Plate for January and February shipments offered at Chilean for February-March shipments. sold at ‘..’4/LJd. Nominal, value of New Zealand “A” grade Gartons for JanuaryFebr.uarv shipment is 30/-. Peas: —Maple—demand slow.. English in fair supply, best making 53/ to 51/-. Others difficult to sell, New Zealand new crop for February-March shipment offered at 64/- and old crop ex store obtainable, at 00/-. Tasmanian for February March shipment offered at 71/-. Blues:—Supplies of Japanese I and Dutch more than requirements and prices have downward tendency. No demand for Colonial. Nominal valne of New ex store is £l6 to £l7; Tasmanian £l7 to £lB per ton. Beans: —Quiet, English old winter scarce and making 50/rto 51/-; spring more plentiful at 52/6. Chinese horse afloat nominally quoted £lO/5/ond Doccmber-Jannavy shipments £lO/12/6. v : , Danish Cocksfoot:— Bettor demand and market firmer. .75/- now asked for January- February shipment c.i.f. New Zealand.
