MAORILAND THEATRE.
“DRESSED TO KILL.”
A polished exterior, meaning clothes in the mode, manicured nails, patent leather’ hair and all else, marks the master crook of to-day’s underworld. He is like the thug of other days only in the blackness of his heart and his" cold-bloodedness and his failure to give the other fellow a real chance. This is well exemplified in “ Dressed to Kill/ ’ Fox Films modern story of the underworld -starring Edmund Lowe and with Mary Astor and Ben Bard in featured roles, coming to the Maoriland Theatre on Saturday.
“THE CANYON OF ADVENTURE.”
Speed, action, thrills and romance are all in “The Canyon of Adventure,” the Ken Maynard feature western which will be screened on Monday. Maynard seems to increase his daring and break neck riding stunts with each picture and in this, his latest, he oat-rides, ropes and shoots anything done previously. The scenery and scenic effects are marvellous. Several of the old California Missions and points of historical interest are used in background for the story plot of “The Canyon of Adventure.” The stoiy was especially written for Ken by Marion Jackson. It tells of old California in the days of the Dons and Senoritas when the languid air of the Spanish prevailed Throughout the country. The main theme deals'with the land grants held by these poineers from iSpain and the efforts of the Government to have these grants registered in the land office before a certain date. This was just about the time the State joined the Union.
