EAST COAST DAIRYING
INSTRUCTION FOR MAORIS. In a recent article concerning the dairying activities of the Maoris bn the " East Coast the following paragiaphs appeared: —“An agricultural instructor, who would go from farm to farm; showing.the best methods of preserving cream and cleansing sheds anrl giving advice as to the best crops suitable to the district, would be greatly appreciated by the Te Kaha fanners. So far the natives have had no one but the factory manager to look to for advice.”
writing in connection with this comment a Ruakokoni farmer says: —“1 would like to point out that the writer’s statement is neither accurate nor just. The district from Te Kaha to Cape Runaway has been visited, to my certain knowledge at least once a season before and since dairying started by Mr. W. Scott, the dairy instructor, stationed in Opotiki. He has always been most sympathetic to the movement and his advice on any subject relating to, bis work is always readily given. In addition, Mr. Dempster, of the dairy division, visited the district and addressed meetings and gave individual advice. At least two instructors in agriculture have visited the district, and their advice in each case has been readily tendered and enthusiastically given. ’ ’
