As a result of the double success of Clever in the Nursery Handicaps and the first and third of Gascony in the open sprint events, the Hawke's Bay owner, Mr. T. H. Lowry, headed the winning owners' list, his horses bringing him in £320. Mr. A. J. Toxward also enjoyed a. very fair measure of success, lus horses, Cakin and Briar Root, annexing first placings on the first day, although Catkin had to share the honours with Mountain Heath in the Woodvillc Handicap. The stake money forthcoming amounted vto £227 10s, a sum which was almost equalled by Mr. C. F. Vallauce, that owner winning £220 by the first and seeond of Kalos and the first and third of Grand National. The Foxton owner-trainer, Mr. F. J. Carmont, gained £lO5 by the .first and. second of Miss Pat in the open sprints on the * respective days, while Palmerston owner, Mr. C. Louisson, won £l4O by the success of Kilmiss in the Gothard Memorial Handi- > cap. Mr. J. O'Brien did not quite tain that figure, his winnings 'from the first and second of Kilmezzo amounting to £125. Minor stake winners were as follows:—Messrs Manning, and Verschafelt £ll2 10s, Mr. W. H. McLeod and J. M. Cameron £lO each, Messrs McMillan and Trevor and Mrs. L. Sleightholme £5 each. Total stake money distributed £2295. Riding Successes. Although the northern horseman, H. N. Wiggins, could not maintain his run,of successes in the saddle on the .second day, his three victories on the opening day enabled him to emerge from the fixture at the head of ,the jockeys' list with three championship points, his winning rides having been on Miss Pat, Clever and Briar Root. The Awapuni horseman, R. Reed (Clever and Locarno), A. McDonald (Elicit and Kalos) and A. G. Murray (Kilmiss and Wyeford), gained two champion- - ship points, McDonald's being acquired’ over the battens in one instance and on the flat on the other occasion., Single successes were credited to L. G. Morris (Archerit), C. France (Delude), T. Green (Catkin), iC. Davis (Mountain Heath), A. Savage (Repay), P. Adams (Grand National), C. Broughton (Crand Acre), R. Park (Gascony) and T. Webster (Kilmezzo). ■ The Mentors’ List. Awapuni mentors experienced an excellent innings, eight winning anijnalis being trained there, while minor placings were gained on several occasions. Miss ‘G. Maher presented winners in Elicit, Kalos, Grand National and , Locarno, the lady mentor being attended on the list by the Woodville trainer, F. W. Davis, who scored twice with Clever and opce with Gascony, they being the only ones to gain more than the one success per medium of their representatives. Single championship points were credited the following:—G. Jones (Archeria), G. New (Grand Acre), E. W. Watson (Kilmiss) and L. Knapp (Wyeford) all of Awapuni; T. F. Quinlivan (Mouixtain Heath) and H. S. Greene (Repay) of Hastings; W. J. King, Waipukurau (Delude); «L "W. Lowe, Trentham (Catkin), F. J. Carmont, Foxton (Miss Pat); H. J. Batten, Fteilding (Briar Root), and D. Kemp, Woodville (Kilmezzo).
