COPIOUS RAIN.

OVER THREE AND A-HALF INCHES SINCE SATURDAY. The rainfall since the beginning o,f this month has been something out of the ordinary for the summer season. Commencing '• on Saturday evening, it has gone on intermittently ever since, and during the last two days there has been a very noticeable fall in the temperature. The ground, however, is warm, and late potatoes should yield heavy crops. The rain that has fallen during the five days amount to 3.64 in., as compared with 1.89 in. for the whole of December last year. Mr J. Sharpe, head gardener at the Central Development Farm, supplies the following figures showing the quantity of rain that wa3 recorded for the 24 hours up to 9 a.m. on each of the days stated:— inches. Sunday 0.62 Monday .. 1.08 Tuesday 0.82 Wednesday 0.81 Thursday 0.31 Total 3.64
