MIRANUI FOOTBALL CLUB’S DINNER.

Following his usual custom, Mr Jas Curran of the Albion Hotel, entertained the members of the Miranui I ootball Club to a dinner on Saturday afternoon, which was attended by 30 members and supporters, amongst the guests bein'g Mr - Alfred Seifert, of Palmerston North. During the course of the dinner the following toa3ts were honoured:--“The King;” “Honorary Officers,■, Mr L. Richardson, replied to by Mr C. Lee; “The coach,” Mr Mabey, responded to by Mr T. Watson; “Referees Association,” Mr F. Picard, responded to by Mr A. Sands; “The Press,” Mr C. Perry, replied to uy Mr J. T. Bovis; “The Ladies,” Mr P. Pavne, replied to by Mr P. Cole; “Kindred Clubs,” Mr R. Pene, replied to bv Mr Newman; the toast of the “Host and Hostess” proposed by Mr L. Richardson was unanimously received and accorded musical honours. Replying to the toast of Miranui, Ltd., proposed by Mr J. Curran, Mr Alfred Seifert referred to the fact that it- would be 39 years next September since he first worked in a flaxmPl. The conditions under which the men worked now were much improved since those times, and, added the speaker, it. was in the interests of the industry that this -should be -so. No industry could be run without good men and Mirapui had always been fortunate m this respect. “We have gone through hard times,” added Mr Seifert,. “but there is every prospect of a rise in the markets. ” After the toasts had been honoured, the presentation of trophies won during the season were made as follows: — To & P. Cole, a travelling bag for best forward; K. Goodwin, medal, best back; the Miranui tennis double championship cup, to P. Nielson and N. Batt.

The clip won by the Miranui football. team, winners of the junior championship was handed to Mr F. Picard, the caotain, amidst, loud applause.
