NOTES AND COMMENTS
To minimise interference, Germany is making the experiment of putting relay stations on the same wave-length as their main station. • The problem, apparently, is to keep- each carrierwave level with the others, but this is believed to have been solved.
To cope with this class of criminal who uses a fast motor-boat on Sydney Harbour, the New South Wales Police Bepartment-'feeentiy equipped the police patrol with wireless, thus greatly increasing its usefulness. The apparatus is used in conjunction with a concealed aerial. The shore transmitter is operated by “remote control” from police headquarters, Sydney, a distance of some 14 miles from the station at Pennant Hills. While the New South Wales police patrol cars have been equipped with wireless for some considerable time, this is f the first of the police patrol boats to be so equipped. ‘ f Musical and dramatic competitions on a large scale, to be known as the Kadio Eisteddfod, will be conducted by the New South Wales’ Broadcasting Company, in October, November, and December. The syllabus includes 34 sections, and entries from all parts of the State are invited. Substantial prize-money is promised, and the winners will also be given contracts for broadcasting. Bands and choirs, as well as individual performers, are provided for. The company says that there is a dearth of first-rate dramatic talent foT broadcast plays and sketches. It hopes to discover some through the competitions.
