WINS FOR WERAROA AND OTAKI.
The first, round in the. liaU Shield cricket competition'-was continued on Saturday, when wins were secured by. Weraroa and Otaki, the margin of runs in each case being substantial. The next matches will complete the first round. \
WERAROA 'y. PARAPARAUMU,
The contest at Paraparaumu, be*, tween the local team and Weraroa, suited in victory for the visitors by 20G to'69. A strong performance was put up by Bennett, who compiled 79T which included three sixes and eigil fours. O’Connor also batted well; hi retired when at 45, and was responsible for two sixes and five fours. Other* double-figure scorers were Watts (22) and Hall (18). The principal batsmen on the home side were C. Reeves (23 not out) and E. Weggery 1R Bowling for Levin, O’Connor captured five wickets for 12 runs, and Bqnnett three for 30.
