STORING FURS
Furs which are kept in' drawers or wardrobes all summer run the risk of being infested by moths. A better plan is to put them away when the cold weather is over until the autumn. Valuable furs should be sent to tho furrier’s to be stored away in a cold chamber E and all furs before being packed should be well cleaned. For home cleaning of brown furs, hot bran is most effective. For white furs use a warm mixture of flour and powdered whiting. Shake the fur well, boating it lightly with a cane, comb gently and give it an airing in the sunshine before putting it away. Severs! sheets of newspaper and a final wrapping of stout brown paper should be placed round the furs. A sprinkling of moth powder is a. further precaution. Special moth-proof bags, made of paper treated for the purpose, can be bought. The )deal method of storing furs at home is in a cedar-lined box, where they are safe from the attack of moths. Put .rolls of tissue paper in the folds of fur stoles and ties in order to prevent them being' creased. It is wise t<j: have any remodelling or re-lining of furs attended to in the summer months, when the 4 furriers are less busy than they are in the colder weather.
