HOW TO USE PERFUME
It is wiser., not to shake drops of scent on to light-coloured fabrics which are likely to show spots as concentrated perfume will probably leave a stain The better way is to soak a pad of blotting paper or cotton wool in one's favourite essence, sew it into a pretty sachet, and lay it in the folds of frocks and lingerie, where it will .permeate everything without doing possible damage, states an exchange. On the dressing-table a spray is the most practical thing. Alternatively, insert a quill or a slender glass tube through a cork in the scent bottle; this limits the quantity of the drops. Don't, in the warm weather, use a lot of eau de Cologne on hands and face, although this is refreshing. The Cologne has a most hardening effect on the skin. Better use a table»poonful of it in the water when washing.
