ir: ELECTORS I Manawatu Electorate VOTE FOR HARRY McMANAWAY Independent REFORM Candidate AND YOU VOTE FOR THE COATES ADMINISTRATION Addressing the Electors Last Week the Prime Minister Said—AT BULLS: “McMANAWAY’S a very line supporter of the present Government and a man of whom we have a very high opinion.” AT FOXTON: “ Nothing would give me greater pleasure than to nominate MR. McMANAWAY as tin Reform Representative.” AT LEVIN: “MR. McMANAWAY - a man whom everybody respects and to whom I owe a deep debt of gratitude. On many occasions previously he has been a loyal supporter of my late chief and 1 has helped myself in many ways.” 0 THE INDEPENDENT REFORM CANDIDATE StANDS FOR 1. PRACTICAL LAND SETTLEMENT AND VIGOROUS LAND DEVELOPMENT. Of our exports last year which were just on 55 millions, over 95 per cent, came directly from the land. Does tins not bear out that the burning question in this Dominion to- day is settlement and still more settlement of the lands, so that this country, as intended by nature, will carry three times its present population ? 2. AMPLE FINANCE FOR FARMERS. In the last five years the Advances toJSettlers Department has lent over twenty-four millions, the bulk of it on the land. The Department had not only paid its way but had accumulated a huge reserve fund. We want more active administration of existing legislation for prompt assistance to genuine settlers seeking land to increase production in the country. 3. PRACTICAL POLITICS - NOT IMPRACTICAL POLICIES. The United Party’s proposal to raise 70 , millions of which 60 millions Would be for land s ettlement, would be disastrous to this country. It would create a boom—we know what happened when the last boom burst . 4. THE PLEDGE OF ACTIVE SERVICE. McMANAWAY makes one pledge and one pledge only, the pledge of active service for the promotion of the welfare of the country as a whole and the active representation of the interests of the electors of Manawatu. 5. NO NEGLECT OF ELECTORS INTERESTS. Throughput the Electorate there is manifest a desire for a change. McMANAWAY’S hard school of training, his local body activity together with his fanning experience and his extensive practical knowledge of the essential requirements of the Dominion and the Manawatu Electorate fit him to be returned as your representative m Parliament. 6. PRACTICAL REPRESENTATIVE OF MANAWATU ELECTORATE. As a Reform Candidate who retains his independence, IcIANAWAY will actively support any legislation, irrespective of which Party it is introduced by, that has for its object the betterment of the people as a whole and the promotion of the welfare of the Dominion. : 7. FREEDOM FROM INDUSTRIAL TURMOIL. New Zealand was first to introduce the system of arbitration for the settlement of industrial disputes. McMANAWAY stands for industrial peace and prosperity and will neglect no opportunity of supporting legislation designed for the particular welfare of the? worker and the promotion of his industry. His objective will be to clear strife from the path of progress. 8. HE WILL SUPPORT THE REFORM PARTY ON A NO-CONFIDENCE MOTION. Electors! You Have Asked for a Change-Confirm Your Decision by Voting for HARRY McMANNA WA Y Independent Reform Candidate
