SHANNON FOOTBALL CLUB'S GRAND BALL.
AN ENJOYABLE FUNCTION,
The grand ball held by the Shannon Football. Club in the Druids' Hall on Fridav evening drew a large attend; anco,'there being about 300 persons present, amongst them visitors' from all the neighbouring townships .and districts. The hall had been decorated with the club'3 colours, the walls; being covered with ferns and arum lilies' and the- ceiling with red and black streamers, while in the centre of the hall ;was <a- large red bell, .the whole giving the interior of the-building; a very gay effect. The stage and supper rooms were decorated in similar colours. "George's Orchestra provided the ■music,''"their playing being muclf appreciated, the music and being perfect. The duties of M.C. were in charge of Mr W. Guy. An excellent supper, supplied by 'the: ladies, under the supervision of Mrs Jamieson, was all that could be desired.. During the.
supper interval extras were played by Miss -M. Butler, Messrs George, Pearson and Couehie. (accordion), which were heartily appreciated. After "'■'the supper adjournment, Mr A. Birehall, president of the Club, thanked those present for making the evening a success. He stated that apologies for absence had bee'n received iron) Messrs Hannan and .Casey (president' and secretary) of the ' Horowhenua District Council. In his remarks, about the season's work Mr Birehall announced that the medals presented dor the most improved players had been awarded" to Eric Satherley (seniors), Ngatuna and Warm'an (juniors), and Small (thirds). The medals were being inscribed and would be presented at a later date. ■

Jones, navyblue, crepe de chine; ..Miss Butler, kingfisher shot taffetas, tight bodice en lace yoke; Miss Spencer, lido velvet light'fur trimmings with diamante buckle; - Miss S. Roach, shell pink crepe de chine, flares and frills; Mrs T. Moynihan, blue -georgette, silver bodice and flares; Mrs Turley, gold lace over green; Miss J. Brown, blue with beaded overdress; Mrs McGuckin, pale blue crepe de chine; Mrs Leng. Ward, rose mervtellieu and georgette;| Mrs Cronquest, salmon pink georgette, silver sequin panels with tulle bow; Miss. M. Jamieson,, scarlet taffetas ;■ Miss E. Jamieson, eau de nil crepe-de chine and-silver lace; Miss Hook, aprieot georgette with tiny frills and-shoul-' der" posy; Miss H. Birehall, long bodice and deep frilled skirt of vieux rose taffetas*;; Miss G. Brown, pink floral silk; Miss Cortell, mauve crepe de chine; Miss' Whyte,, floral crepe de chink; Misses I. and E. £\at'herley, pink taffetas; Miss Una Bull (Levin), black satin with primrose band and bow; Miss R. Mau (Levin), primrose taffetas; Miss Perry (Tokomaru), apricot taffetas; Mrs Conchie, Mrs J Curran, Misses I. and M. Bell (Tokomaru.), Misses Roach, Small, Hcvarc. and Bayne (Waikanae);. ■■ V
