SHANNON FIRE BRIGADE.

A special meeting of members of 'the Shannon Volunteer Fire Brigade was held on Monday evening, Superintendent Jas. Curran presiding over a good attendance of members. The balance sheet --.resented in connection with the cost of erecting the new fire station showed that with the profit of £l7 4s Sd made on the social and dance together with a donation of £1 Is from the building is now clear of -ntebt. It was decided to approach the Borough Council to have | the building vested in that body. Invitations were received from the Levin and Paimerston North Brigades for members of the Brigade ! to attend their annual re-unions to be held on October 17th and 16th respectively. Masters Taylor and Radford were nominated as "messengers to the Brigade. On the motion of Fire Police Captain Thwaites, seconded by Fireman 11. Hook, a hearty vote of thanks was accorded Superintendent Curran for the .valuable work and time he has given in connection with the interests'of the Brigade. In returning thanks, Supt. Curran stated that with the help of his fellow members who had co-operated in assisting him, the work .had been made easy. He said he was pleased to see this spirit prevailing in the Brigade and he hoped that for years to come they would continue to work harmoniously together. Donations of chairs for the room at the station were made by Fireman 11. Hook (secretary) and Supt. Jas. Curran. Any person who will be good enough to donate a chair is asked to notify'the secretary (Mr H. Hook). It is intended to purchase the chairs wholesale and the price is then to be collected.
