TO WASH BLANKETS

| On sunny days blankets can be washed, dried and aired all in one day. New blankets should never" be put straightway on a bed. In all the processes of. blanket making the process whjeh-is known as "Mozzing" making the blanket fluffy, is the most important, states an exchange. In this pr0.:,..s .:,..s 18, sometimes long cylinders are attached in the form of • a ring to a circular framework. Each cylinder is covered with strong wi.re bristles. It is these bristles which'tear the surface of the cloth and loosen the facial fibres making finally a soft, fluffy pile of loose wool. The result of this is that there is a deal of superfluous wool in dust form ■ ready for separation from the firmer 1 strands. Also fastened.in the fluff of the material are oristles which have been caught and carried away. These bristles should always be sought. They are very sharp and may cause ugly .-cratches. Washing is the remedy for the disappearance of superfluous wool. It also e.eans away dirt, which during the fini.shing stages has gathered in the pile. Tt should be remembered that fresh wool is greasy and sulphurous. Consequently, to preserve colour, hot water ! should never bo. used. On the other hand, to surmount the greasy qualities of the wool it is essential to soak a blanket very well m- cold salted water. i After soaking it should be given a [proper washing. This should be done in tepid water in a good lather of strong soap and borax. Rinsing is very important.
