INDUSTRIAL CO-OPERATION.
LABOUR'S HEW GOAL. THE CLASS WAR DISCREDITED. LONDON, August 19. At Labour’s Diamond Jubilee at the Trade Union Congress at Swansea in September principal consideration , will he given the Lord Melchett (Sir Alfred Mond) report on the joint com(ferencc 'feetweten employers and employees. The report raises the issue of industrial co-operation in opposition to the theory of class war, which appeared to hold sway in Councils and Unions before the events of the past two years brought disillusionment. A very large favourable majority is anticipated for the General Trade Unions Council’s policy. It is this new tendency to industrial co-operatjon that is important, particularly the proposal of the Transport General Workers’ Union for an inquiry into the constitution of the General Council itself. The resolution welcomes the growing authority of the General Council in the trade union movement. A bolder resolution to create “speedy re-organisationin the trade union movement will, be submitted by the Amalgamated Engineering Union.
