EXOTIC COLOURS
The new clothes are very . lovely, writes ‘ ‘ Germaine ’ ’ from Baris, to the Sydney “Sun/’‘and the finish and attention to detail are absolutely feminr ine and perfect. Suits have comfortably short skirts and trimly tailored lines.
Evening dresses are beautiful, and carried out in most exotieally beautiful colours. Marigold yellow, fuchsia, cornflower blue, jade green, a brilliant purple, and flame—rthese are the colours one meets where the evening gown is concerned; and they are usually masses of tulle over a satin slip of a matching colour, or several different coloured tulle dresses may have various slips such as silver and gold tissue, satin, the colour of the gown, or sometimes white satin, and even black satin do' duty in this respect. Some little girlish frooks also appear. The simplicity of these is brought'to a happy completion with a fortunate choice of detail, such as unusual slpeves, odd and very becoming necklines, and plain coloured edgings applied to the charmqing organ di froeks which are being prepared for summer resorts. The touch of red has become a veritable obsession, and it ranges from dull Persian shade to ceris t e, rose and vermilion, via lacquer and hunting pink, a choice fortunately large enough to permit of a general participation. Many women who have hitherto fought shy of this colour are finding they can, after all, exploit it, especially as an enlivening fiote to black, navy -me, eatmeal, wheat and brown, frequently relieved by a seuppon of gold, the latter, likewise, playing for a significant plaee in. the modistic sun. One may describe the outlook on the whole as colourful; wonderful printed georgettes wonderful printed silks and chiffons; lending invaluable aid, together -Jvith embroideries, galons, tassels, buttons; and scarves.
