A noved and convenient place in whieh-to keep gramophone records is a lerge box so padded and upholstered that it resembles a rather, stiff 'pouffe,' states an .exchange. The padding at the sides/must bo arranged to rise in the midd|e and slope ■ toward the .edges, to give a proper effect, and must also be very thick. If. is neeessary also for the covering to be strained tightly over the padding. The lid, whiph is padded to form a seat is seeured by hinges, and a short length of chain-will keep it from falling too far back "when the box is left open. Castors must be affixed to the box to enable it to be moved easily.
