WHO SAID THAT?
Tlie savings of prominent men and women of the great world:— Mrs. Wilfrid Ashley, describing the failure of the electric light at a bridge party of twelve men and twelve women: “Not one man knew how to put in the fuse, and it was deft to a woman to repair it.” Dr G. Scott: “One of the finest things in the world for the motorists to-day are light-coloured stockings that women wear.” Sir Arthur Holbrook: “If you want to succeed, marry and settle down as soon as you can afford it.” Madame Louise Boulanger: “Buying what one cannot afford is unfair to everybody concerned. Women decorate a city as flowers decorate a garden.” St. John Ervinc: “Young people to-day seem to be paying more for their fun than did the young people of yesterday, and to be getting far less fun for their money. Dancing has become a hideously ugly thing . . .” Sir Edward Parry, on being asked if ladies of seventy-two are apt to be shaky: “No, certainly not. If you say that to some old ladies they'will ask you to dance with them all night.”
