GERMAN-MADE GOODS.
OTAKI CHAMBER INDIGNANT. . / The President of the Otaki Chamber of Commerce, at the monthly meetingon Monday night, regretted thatloca. business people were selling German - made goods. -He pointed out that Germany was the cause of the war, cause of the suffering that followed, while the Britisher was handicapped by Brit ishcrs selling Gerinan-mad e goods. I! was such that helped Germany raise money for war purposes, it was such acts that w.ould again allow that country to raise more money, perhaps for a similar purpose. It surprised him to -^e c local business -men.selling Germanmade goods, and it was a pity that there were residents who bought such articles. It was pointed out by a member that about 75 per cent of stock in warehouses was German-made. The President maintained that by supporting Germany we were encouraging another big upheaval, while at the same time our relatives overseas were being severely penalised. He considered that the Government should be asked to considerably increase the tariff on foreign made goods.
