RELIEF WORK CEASES AT BUCKLEY.

OWING TO FINANCIAL REASONS. The Buckley Drainage Board has found it necessary, owing to financial reasons, to cease the work of banking the Koputaroa" stream, with the result that fifty men are thrown out of work. It is hoped that satisfactory financial arrangements will be made that will permit of the men commencing work again in the course of a day or two. The foreman has reported that all the clearing has been completed and SO chains of banks finished, 84 chains nearly completed, all this work being done with shovels. Three culverts have been put in and'the other two are well on the way. * The tram line is completed. The rails forwarded were all rejects, practically everyone having •!<o /be straightened and all sleepers had to be cut on the job.
