COCKFIGHTING.
ENGLISH REVIVAL. T» _ BARONET FINED. ("Sun''.Special) LONDON, July 27. The well-known racehorse owner, Sir John Buchanan Jardine, Bart., and 15 others Avere fined £lO '6'ach for assisting in a cockfight at New Buekenham, Norfolk. •■■■ . The prosecution pointed out that the proceedings were taken under the Act "prohibiting, causing, procuring or assisting fighting or baiting animals." It was said that the police had raided Charles Harvey's stud farm at New Buekenham, where they found a horsebox thickly carpeted with red material. Green baize covered the boards of the walls eighteen inches high. This formed a cockpit 12ft square, in which two birds with their combs and wattles cut and their neck-feathers and wings shortened, were found. Both were armed with silver spurs, and both had been injured. The carpet was blood-stained. Seventeen other cocks were found on the premises. Several had been injured as a result of fighting.
