WARNING OF FLOODS.

BY RADIO AND TELEPHONE. This spring the farmers along the Manawatu and Oroua Rivers will have a much greater amount of warning of the rivers rising due to the efforts of the Manawatu-Oroua River Board. The news will be sent by both radio and telephone. Electric flood rise indicators are to hand and at' Thursday's meeting the board instructed the engineer, Mr F. C. Hay, to push on their installation at the" Manawatu and Oroua Bridges.' These will be read at the Post Office, and the information as to the movement of the rivers thus gained will "be disseminated by telephone, Avhile arrangements have also been made to supply the press with the information. In addition, both the New Zealand Broadcasting Company (per 2YA, Wellington) and the Manawatu Radio Club havt! promised to assist in apprising t)>o farmers when floods are indicated.
