PREPARATIONS MADE FOR REP. GAMES. At Saturday night ’s meeting of the Manawhenua Rugby Football Union the various details in connection with the ensuing representative matches were finalised.

There were present: Messrs W. Hannan (in the chair), 11. Crawford, K. Eglinton, J. Ryan, T. Parata; T. Collin, J. R. Hardie, A. M. Onglcy, J. A. Colquhoun, E. M. Ryder, R. Richards, H. Hutchins.

Nominations for positions in the North Island team were left in the hands of the selectors.

•' The disqualification of D; Bailey for u period of twelve months was confirmed by the New Zealand Rugby Union. Details of the match of the “B" unions. North v. South Island, to be played at Palmerston North on August 4th, were arranged. Representative Games.

The Wanganui Rugby Union asked for further particulars re the proposed representative match versus Manawhenua to be played at Wanganui on August 4 and submitted the names of four referees. A. Henwood .was chosen, and the time of starting the match at 2.30 p.m.

The Metropolitan Sub-Union of Wanganui suggested August 18 for the date for the junior representatives to play the Manawatu juniors at Palmer ston North, and September 15 as the date versus Horowhenna juniors at Levin. It was decided to try to arrange the match Wanganui versus Manawatu juniors, for Wednesday August 22, in order not to interfere with the senior grade games. The Wellington liugby Union agreed to August IS for the match Manawatu thirds v. Wellington fourths, the game to be played at 1,30 p.m. They also requested' a suitable date for the junior representative game at Wellington. It was decided to suggest August If as the date.

The Manawatu Bugbv Council advised that Messrs Hatch and McHcrron had been appointed managers for the North Island and South Island teams respectively in the Minor Unions match, and that Mr. J. A. Colquhoun had been appointed to represent the Council on the Manawhenua junior selection committee.

The Horowheuua . Council advised that details were well in hand for the match, Manawhenua v. Wellington at Levin on August 25, and that Mr. S. Hooper had been appointed as their selector for the junior reps. Registering Both Councils’ Colours.

The chairman stated that while the colours of the Manawhenua Union were registered, the colours of the two separate councils wore not. It was resolved that an effort be made to have the colours of both the Manawatu Council and the Horowhonua Council registered. Challenge for Ranfurly Shield.

It was resolved that the representative match Manawhenua v. Wairarapa on ►September 15 be definitely fixed as a challenge for the Ranfurly Shield. Each of the players selected for the southorn tour is to be officially notified and is to notify the selectors by. Friday August 3, as to whether lie is available for the tour or not.
