LONDON DAIRY MARKET

NEW ZEALAND'S POSITION.

"CONCENTRATE ON CHEESE."

BUTTER PROSPECTS UNCERTAIN.

"The prospects for Now Zealand cheese in England are excellent, but the butter market is uncertain,'' stated Mr W. H. Kent, a representative in NewZealand for the large Tooley Street firm of Andrew Clement and Sons, Ltd., who returned from a short business visit to England by the Arawa last week.

Dealing with butter, Mr Kent said there was ever-increasing competition from European countries, such aa Russia, and the Balkan States. Not only were these countries increasing, their production, but also they wore bettering their quality. As far as New Zealand was concerned, European countries had the advantage of quicker and easier delivery. "My opinion, is that New Zealand should concentrate on cheese/' added Mr Kent. "In.this direction we have a market where competition is not very, keen, and where our product is held in the highest regard. After visiting London and meeting those connected with the dairy produce industry there, one can say that New Zealand has a certain market for cheese, while the outlook for butter, is at least uncertain;"
