H.P. FOR HORSES

USE FOR OLD CHASSIS.

Frequently, when the motor of an old ear has been worn to the condition when repairs are too expensive, the chassis and body are still useful. They are usually broken up for scrap, but a motor trader in an American farming centre has evolved a new use. By fitting shafts, and removing the transmission line and motor, he converted old chassis into horse waggons, and thus developed a big market among farmers who find horses still useful for short-haul work around the homestead. The motor chassis has the advantage of roller bearings, it lowers the body of the waggon if the frame is used with a flat platform, reduces the height oi? the loading line, and has a lubricatipa system which is unknown to horssdrawn waggons. It has been found that horses can draw twice the usual load on automobile waggons. > Chassis can be changed into waggons in a few hours and at a small cost.
