Dear Sir,—l am at present one of the unemployed, and I would ask your leave, to bring to light what appears to me to be a-great blunder that-is being, made by our citizens and-business men. In the first place many of ; our prominent citizens buy their goods out' of town. This, in common fairness to the place, they live in, should not be so, especially if prices are the same, but unfortunately most of the necessities of life are dearer here than elsewhere, so the workers send treir orders outside. Now it is up to the retailers to fall into* line with their prices. They can do it if they will for their overhead is no more. By doing so they will keep the trade in the place, and could employ more labour, and would have no need to be down in the mouth. If they decided to make, .no move then it is up to the workers to make up orders and send where they can get the goods the cheapest. I am etc.,
