DENTAL CLINIC.

FOR SHANNON AND ADJACENT SCHOOLS. At the la3t meeting of the Shannon School Committee it was decided to call a meeting of representatives from the Shannon, Tokomaru, Makerua and Moutoa school committees to discuss the question of making an effort to raise money for the purpose of erecting a dental clinic in 'Shannon, thus having everything in readiness should a nurse be available for this district. This meeting was held on Thursday evening, there being present Messrs Hyde, Hill, Christian, and lngley (Shannon), Guy and McClure (Tokomaru), Anderson and Wilton (Makerua). Mr Hyde, who represented Shannon on the deputation which met the Min-, ister of Health at Levin recently in connection with the movement for a dental clinic for the Horowhenua schools, in outlining the position, said that his committee had thought it advisable for each.centre to have their own clinic, as one nurse could, visit the lot. No nurses would be available until next April, when about fifteen to. twenty nurses will have completed their training. He understood that Levin had the necessary money for the establishment of a clinic there and if Shannon had their clinic ready, when the nurses were available, possibly there, would be a good chance of getting a nurse for this district. To get a clinic in Shannon it- would be necessary for them to. find £9O.

Those present were fully in accord with a movement in this' direction being made and on the motion of Mr Guy it was resolved, “That a dental elinie be erected in Shannon.'A discussion as to ways and means of raising the necessary money followed. Finally it was decided that Shannon find' two-thirds of the money and Tokomaru and Makerua the remainder. It was left to’ each committee to make their own arrangements in. regard; to raising their quota. The estimated number of children at each of the schools are as follows: — Shannon 320, TokohiarU' 107, Makerua 29
