AUSTIN BANNER. LEVIN DEFEAT FOXTON. , The Levin and Foxton team 3 met on the Weraroa Domain on Saturday and after an evenly contested game Levin proved the victors by the narrow margin of one point.
Foxton won the toss and Levin kicked olx against a strong breeze'.. Levin played strongly and safely from the beginning and had a territorial advantage early in the game, a passing rush just failing when Kingsbeer fell short. From the ensuing line out the ball came out to Williams who dived over. His attempt at goal failed. Levin 3, Foxton 0. Following the kick-off Foxton carried ihe play to Levin’s 25 and a passing rush by their backs looked dangerous, but Levin eventually forced. The outstanding feature of the play That followed was the work of the Levin forwards. Coley puf in a strong' run for Foxton, but was.pushed out. The Foxton half was playing well at this stage and saved his side on many occasions. Giye and. take play in the centre of the field was followed by Foxton attack 1 , ing. The . game was now fast and open, each side making a determined effort to score. From a line out Foxton were awarded a free kick, but Matthew’s attempt failed. Levin obtained possession from a scrum, but bad handling by the backs almost let Foxton through. Levin returned to "the attack and a good passing rush by Kingsbeer, Williams and Crisp saw the latter ground the ball a few yards from the line.
