VALEDICTORY.
MR AND MRS T. F. GIBSON. A large party of friends assembled at.the Levin railway station yesterday to say good-bye to Mr and Mrs T. F. Gibson, who left by Field's, express for Wellington, whence they will sail by the Maunganui to-morrow for San Francisco, on the first stage of a holiday trip to the Old Country. Prior to the service at the Century Hall last evening, Mrs Gibson was entertained at tea by the' members of the Methodist. Young Women's Bible Class, of which she was the leader, and was presented with a manicure set and a very beautiful bouquet. The church service was followed by a service of song, and the opportunity was taken to make a presentation of a travelling rug from the congregation to Mr and Mrs Gibson. The rug was a handsome one, with the recipients' initials artistically embroidered on it. The Eev. W. Beckett made the presentation and wished Mr and Mrs Gibson God-speed,, adding that he hoped they would return to New Zealand refreshed by their journey. Mr F. H. Hudson spoke on behalf of the circuit stewards, and praised very highly the work which Mr and Mrs, Gibson had done for the church. Good wishes were also expressed by Mr W. Falloon, as a representative of the town, mention being made by him of Mr Gibson's pioneer services to the Chamber of Commerce. An apology for absence was received from Mrs Richard Prouse, who is indisposed. Mr Gibson feelingly acknowledged the gift and the kindly sentiments expressed . ■ .
