GOLF NOTES.

The first inter-club match of the season was held on the Shannon links on Saturday and resulted in a win for Shannon by 10 to Foxton's 3. The conditions were anything but pleasant, a boisterous biting gale being much in evidence all the afternoon, and consequently the scores were rather long. The afternoon tea provided by the ladies was much enjoyed and helped to cheer the otherwise unpleasant con : ditions. Results are as follows—Foxton being mentioned first: — Bergin beat Jones. ( Christie lost to Gagliardi. Walton lost to H. Stern. Ogilvy lost to C. Stern. Easton beat Blackwood. Newton lost to Spencer.' Roach lost to King. Perreau lost to D. Saxon. LADIES. Miss Neylon beat Mrs Morgan. Miss Robinson lost to Mrs Saxon. Mrs Easton lost to Miss Sinclair. Mrs Bergin lost to Miss P. Saxon. Mrs Austin halved with Mrs Spencer. Mrs Newton lost to Mrs Moynihan.
