WIN GAME AGAINST ORANGE FREE STATE.
CAPETOWN, June 13. The All Blacks played the fifth match pf their tour to-day at Kroonstad, meeting the Or'ange Free State representatives. The half-time score in the game ■was: — ALL BLACKS ..... 15 ORANGE FREE STATE 0 liW .The final score was:— ‘ ALL BLACKS 20 ORANGE FREE STATE 0 I . ■ BEST FORM SO FAR STRANG SCORES TWICE, LINDSAY CONVERTS FOUR TRIES. TWQ-THltilEvrWO SCRUM TO BE RETAINED. KROONSTAD, June 13. The All Blacks played'the best football of their tour to-day. The attendance was five thousand, and the day was beautiful. The match was played on a dirt ground, watered just before the match. . The i All Blacks took the field as under:— Full-back: Lilburne. Three-quarters: Grenside, -Lindsay, Robilliard. Five-eighths: Strang, McGregor. Half-back: Dailey. Wing-forward: . Scrimshaw. Forwards: Swain, Hore, M. Brownlie, Alley, M‘Williams, Ward, Hazlett. 1 The score consisted of four tries, all converted. The New Zealanders attacked strongly from the start, and Dailey at once scored, diving over at the .corner. All Blacks 5, Free State 0. The game travelled about the ground, and then a fine passing run by a bunch of backs landed Grenside over. All Blacks 10, Free State 0. ■ * Strang was the next to cross the line, and at half-time the. New Zealanders were still attacking strongly. All Blacks 15, Free State 0. On resuming,' the local men made a great effort, and for ten minutes kept their opponents on the defence. Then New Zealand took a turn, the backs . throwing the ball about freely. The - Free State men came again, but Strang and Dailey cleared. The All Blacks’ forwards rushed down the field, and Strang cut in, scoring under the posts. All Blacks 20, Free State 0. . The New Zealanders still attacked, but the, defence was good and there was no further score. Lindsay converted every try, one’ kick from the corner being especially clever. The New Zealand in thisgame put more weight into the scrum; and exhibited a big improvement on 1 their play.in Saturday’s match again- 1 st Transvaal. '. v j Brownlie,- Swain, McWilliams And. Alley were especially promindht among the forwards, The backs showed excellent combination, and were well fed' by Dailey. - It is now certain that the All Blacks will retain the two-three-two scrum formation. “NOT DOWNHEARTED.” 1 .
