AUTOMOBILE CLUB'S ACTION. CAPTAIN CAMPBELL PROTESTS. LONDON, May 18. "Certainly record-breaking is dangerous, but that i* my funeral," says Captain Malcolm Campbell, protesting against the Royal Automobile Club's action m banning Ms attempt on the world speed record at Pendine Sands, Wsllgs* He states that his Bluebird will soon be ready, but he has nowhere to go. He cannot spare the time to go to Daytona Beach, Florida. The Automobile Club's ban is effective because it will refuse to take official times. A club official replies that Captain Campbell admitted that nine miles on Daytona Beach was barely sufficient for the dash, and, furthermore, Pendine Sands were imperfect. Wet patches develop without warning. Also, he says, it is not merely Campbell's funeral, as skidding endangers the lives of the public.
