WIN FOR ALL BLACKS.
MATCH AGAINST GRIQULAND
WEST. ASCENDANCY IN SECOND SPELL LEADS TO FINAL SCORE 19 TO 10. KIMBERLEY, June 6. The All Blacks met the Grictytaland West representatives today,, and defeated them by 19 points to 10. - The Griqualand Westerners are not counted as a strong team, but the New Zealanders only beat them with some difficulty. Lindsay, Rushbrook, Sheen, Strang, Kilby, Burrows, McWilliams and Snow came into the All Blacks' side for the first lime, and Stewart was captain. The weather was fine, and the attendance was 5000. The All Blacks made some radical changes by playing three men in the front of the scrum, and Carlton as extra centre. One result was that they got a fair share of possession from the scrum.
The Griquatanders played up vigorously in the first half, but fell off in the second. Within three minutes Holton kicked a penalty goal for them, and shortly after pottod another. The All Blacks' first score came from Lucas kicking, infield and allowing McWilliams to score' near the posts, but the subsequent kick at goal was charged down. - t Pine combined passing for three-quar-ters of the length of the ground let Rushbrook over, but the kick at goal failed. .. . •
From a scrum Bok shot over at thecomer and made the local men's score: 10.,
The All Blacks countered this with another pretty back movement, Rushbrook scoring and Lindsay converting making the score 11 to 10 in the All Black's favour.
In the second half the New Zealand? backs were very nromincnt, but too often failed at the critical moment.; Lucas got a try, and Finlayson ran blunder the posts, making the score at'. the finish 19—10.
Evidently one of New Zealand's tries in the second spell was converted, but reference to this is missing from the message.
