Mrs J. Riches and family leave for Foxton to-day, where they will reside in the future.

Mr Fred Bryant, who has large property interests in Shannon, is on his way from England and is expected to arrive in a few days.

Mr and Mrs S. Bowker, of Ihakara; accompanied by Mr and Mrs Arms, of Stout Street, are away on a motor trip to Auckland.

All local unemployed residents are invited to hand in their names to the Town Clerk as early as possible, so that a list can be compiled.

Members of the Shannon Croquet Club spent a pleasant social afternoon at the residence of Mrs C. C. Pranks on Tuesday. Competitions held were won by Mesdames Aim and Bovis.

At a meeting of members of the Manawatu Radio Club held at Palmerston North on Tuesday evening, Mr J. T. Bovis, of Shannon, was elected a member of the newly-formed advisory board. The Club has now a membership of 272, which includes 14 Shannon members. *

Mr W. Roberts, who at one time was employed at the Power House at Mangaore and ■who some ten weeks ago was seriously injured at the Tuai power house, has been staying with Mr and Mrs Swindlehurst at Buckley, accompanied by Mrs Roberts. They returned to Tuai yesterday. Mr Roberts has almost recovered from his accident.

At the Council meeting on Tuesday evening Cr. Downes stated that Mr McKeen, M.P., who is a member of the Wellington City Council, and who visited Shannon during the week-end, informed him that his Council were-us-ing a special treatment for footpaths, of oil and bitumen, which had given splendid results and there had been a big saving in cost. If the local Council wrote to the Town Clerk at Wellington full particulars would be forwarded. It was decided to write for particulars.
