THE POWER OF WOMEN

(To the Editor)

Sir,—Through all past ages women have been the power behind . the throne. They have pulled the strings which have moved kings and parliaments/ They are doing it at this moment, in every country in the world. When the women of the world stand solid against the savagery of war, wflr will be only a horrid remembrance of an evil thing of the past, for ever dead. When they, the women, demand the sweeping away of the cruel traffic in drink, all the miseries it brings will be as dead as Queen Anne. Live, every one of you for—- “ The right, that needs assistance; For the wrong, that needs resistance; Fot the future in the distance; For the good that you can do.” There are 30 of you in your Women’s Institute. What a power for Shannon. —I am, etc., “HOPEFUL.”
