REPLY TO "SPECTATOR."

"(To the Editor.)

Dear Sir, —Kindly allow me space in your paper to answer "Spectator's" criticism of the rough play in the Miranui-Shaiinon junior match last' Saturday week, rflso his unfair remarks on Mr Sands' refereeing. I. think, and most of the players on each side will agree with me when I say, t that it was played as Rugby should be played, clean and hard. Everyone who knows the least« bit about the game knows that there is a big difference in rough and hard play and a x player to be any good anil get on in Rugby has to play hard. As "to the refereeing, Mr Sands is to be congratulated on the. manner in ■, which he controlled the game and play-, ers, and is a very valuable man to the Ilorowhenua Rugby Union, who could do with a few more like him, as everybody knows "Dick" to be as "square a s a die." He is giving a better play every Saturday he takes the whistle. Oh; "Spectator," if you expect cleaner play and better control of the game, take my advice and stay away and I am sure the two "clubs in question would buy ycu a ping-pong' set. One thing I am pretty sure of, "Spectator," is that YOUR football career was very short. I am etc. | "PLAY THE GAME."
