POWER BOARD ENGINEER'S

REPORT. The monthly report submitted to the Horowhenua Power Board on Tuesday by its engineer (Mr J. A. Smith) was as under: — No. 1 Gang have run 6 service lines, erected 6 poles and run 56 chains of wire; have been engaged on overhaul between Otaki and Manakau, patrolled southern feeders, repaired broken and damaged lines due to storm; restrained some services at CD. Farm; cut trees at Waikanae and Hautere, and unloaded poles. No. 2 Gang have run 9 service lines, erected 26 poles, and run 191 chains of wire; built one outdoor sub-station and erected one 11,000-volt line switch; have erected E.H.T. line No. 6 line, Foxton; repaired lines broken during storm; cut trees Winchester Street and Foxton. No. 3 Gang have been engaged on general maitenance in the northern district, geneial work and attendance to main sub-siation. Electrical fitters have erected one pole, run 2 services and extra phases on one existing service line; changed transformers, Gladstone Boad and Phillips, Paraparaumu; have retributed poles on No. 6 line, Foxton, and assisted No. 2 gang on same; have reconditioned two transformers, repaired lines broken during storm, attended to x consumers and renewed street lights. . , i\ Installations.—During the period 14 applications from new consumers and 22 applications for extensions to existing installations have been received, comprising 3 ranges, 3 waterheaters, 4 industrial, and one pumping motor. Seventeen new consumers and 21 extensions have been connected, , ing 3 ranges, 4 water-heaters, and 5 'industrial motors. ~,.,. The Chairman (Mr Monk) said that the applications from new consumers and for extensions seemed to keep up vorv well, and probably augured fairly well for the coming year, at least as far as extensions were concerned. The report was adopted.
