MR McMANAWAY AN INDEPENDENT.
(To the Editor.) Sir. —In the Dominion of last Saturday’s date appeared a list of candi-, dates for the next general election wlio were approved and would be supported by the thiited Political Organisation My name appeared in that list for the Manawatu seat. In order that there will be no misunderstanding later, I wish to state that I am not a member of any r political party. I am standing as an Independent candidate, pledged to no party, class or creed. Thousands of electors in New Zealand to-day are looking for a party to come forward with a progressive policy and a strong leader, and later, should the United Party bring down a policy of that nature, they will not lack support. . Should thq Ujnifb'd Party’s policy conform with the above, I may be found supporting them, but until such can be known, J prefer to remain an Independent candidate. I realise, that, in order to defeat the Reform candidate for Manawatu electorate, I must have the support of electors w’ho have belonged to all political parties; therefore I am grateful for the support of the United Party. —I am, etc,, H. J. D.„ McMANAWAY.
