OHAU WATER SCHEME.

COUNTY COUNCIL TO AFFORD TECHNICAL ADVICE.

On behalf of a committee of residents set up to go into the question of a water supply for the Ohau township, Mr L. H. Arcus forwarded to the County Council on Saturday, a petition signed by IG residents asking the Council to instruct its officers to investigate and report on the question of providing a water supply for the township. Cr. McLeavey stated that in the first instance the applicants tried to get a supply ,from the Levin Borough, but were not successful. They now had another scheme in mind, and if the County Engineer were allowed to assist them, the'speaker would be pleased to go round with him and'pdint out what was required. Cr. Ryder moved that the necessary permission be granted. Cr. Jensen suggested that the matter be held over until the arrival of the new Engineer; Mr Brewster. The chairman said that if Mr Callander, the acting-Engineer, had tiine.he uould discuss the question with Cr. McLeavey and advise the applicants as to the feasibility or otherwise of going on with the scheme. The motion was carried.
