Vital statistics for Otaki for March, were:—Births 6, marriage 1, deaths 4. A mild outbreak of scarlet fever has occurred in Palmerston North. It is probable that the Commission set up to inquire into the position of Otaki will meet on the Ist May. A party of Otaki residents intend tq spend the Easter holidays at Kapiti. A party from Wellington will also camp on the island. \ During the month just concluded permits were issued in Palmerston North for buildings of a total value of £14,321 of which sum £10,686 is for 11 houses.
