An instance of land being rated twice come before Mr. C. R. OrrWalker, S.M., in the Waiultu Court. It was explained that a certain holding of 40 acres belonged to an estate, but appeared twice in the rate books, once as belonging to the estate and once as belonging to a -man who had acted as trustee. Consequently, a rate was claimed twice by the County Council and by the Rabbit Board. The rate book of the Rabbit Board was before the magistrate for signature and the necessary alteration was made to ensure only one rate demand from the Board in future; It was.intimated that the owner would have to deal with the matter as far as the County was concerned when the County rate book, was being signed.
