Eastertide comes at the change of seasons from summer to beautiful autumn, and as ladies are thinking of autumnal wear, Messrs Howard Andrew, Ltd., have a very fine Easter show of millinery, coats, and costumes. The Thanksgiving Harvest sale of produce, home made cooking and children’s clothing, conducted in Mr Carter’s shop on Saturday by the ladies of the Methodist Church, was most successful, practically everything being disposed of. “It is a pity that these referees 5 meetings are not more widely used by the players and by members of the Rugby Union,” said Mr P. C. He declared that if greater interest were shown it would be more fully realised that referees did not walk on the field merely to be “narks,” but were a vital part of the game.

The Easter 'holiday traffic • on the railways promises to be heavier this year than in the past, notwithstanding the large amount of motor traffic. Particularly will this be the case on the Wellington Auckland line. In order to avoid congestion at the booking office, the stationmaster advises all who contemplate travelling by the holiday excursions (which commence to-mor-row) to secure their tickets, if possible, a day or two beforehand.
