THE CHILDEN’S PARTY
A FEW SUGGESTIONS.
Modern children demand novelty, like their, elders. In these days of souvenir gifts, no party is voted a complete success unless each person goes away bearing a little present, if it be only a rather decorative airballoon. The latter are now ob‘ tainable decorated with nursery rhyme and animal pictures. And there must be a special surprise in the manner devised for distributing these presents. Popular Balloons.
When balloons are to be given away put them in bundles of half a dozen or so into great snowballs, made of white crepe paper, cottonwool, and “frost,” decorated with artificial holly. These can be suspended about the room, hanging from the picture rail or chandelier. They are so light in weight that there should be no difficulty about this. If a cord is so arranged that a light tug will rend the paper and allow the balloons to descend in a shower on the children's heads the surprise is ready. The Masked Party.
A masked carnival party to which all 'the young guests invited are to come with those comical papiermache masks associated particularly with Guy Fawkes day, is a new version of the fancy dress dance, and much more amusing for the kiddies concerned.
There must be prizes, of course, sufficient for everybody to win one or receive a consolation prize.
Simple Voting.
Let the little people themselves do the voting. Not on paper, however —that would be too complicated and require a lot of explaining —but by a show of hands.
The funniest animal masks, the oddest faces, the ugliest, the prettiest, and so on, should have awards.
One hostess who gives popular children's parties is planning a Zoo fancy dress party this year. All the invited guests are to have invitation cards with animals on them, and they will be asked to appear as birds, beasts of fishes. Delightful wholly and wooden animal toys are to form the prizes and favours. — (London ‘Sunday News”).
