BOWLING.

FEILDING DEFEAT OTAKI. A rink of bowlers from the Feilding Club visited Otaki on Wednesday, and played two games. The visitors— McPherson, Barlthorp, Quayle and Ross (s) met O’Rourke, Smith, Amyes and Satherley (s) and won 18—14 after a splendid game. The visitors opened ■with a three, followed. by a single, but on the fifith head Otaki had a lead of one, 5—4. On the tenth head scores were even, 77 4 wh-il'el tTne thirteenth head saw both sides 10 —10. Feilding led by two on the next head, but Otaki evened matters, and. 13—13 was recorded on the 17th head. Feilding then scored three in succession, 16 —13, then Otaki one, 16—14, but on the last head the visitors lay two, and won 18—14. Throughout play was of a pleasing nature, and many fine shots were sent along. In the afternbon the visitors met McGill, Noble, Wyatt, and Millward (s) but secured an easy win, 28—15. Play for a time was very even,, scores being 6 —6 on the Bth head, then Otaki gained a load of one,, but on the 12th head Feilding scored a six, and led 45—11. (Otaki got within tw.o, but on the following three heads Feilding scored two fours and a twt>. The game on the 17th head was in their favour 'by a substantial margin, 25 13. Otaki added two to. their score and Feilding three during the closing heads, 28 —15. Prior to Feilding’s departure Mr. Wilmot thanked the visitors, for coming to Otaki, adding that his Club was always pleased to have visitors at any time. After Easter he hoped that two Otaki rinks would visit Feilding.

Mr. Quayle, in reply, thanked the Otaki members for the* great 'hospitality extended .and for the enjoyable games provided. Being an old resident of the district lie well knew that the visitors would be hospitably entertained, and he trusted that when Otaki visited Feilding the Otaki players would have a good time. Cheers were then exchanged, while a hearty 'one ’was given for the ladies for supplying afternoon tea.
