SHANNON EGG CIRCLE.
A representative meeting of the Shannon Egg Circle was held in Shannon during the past week to adjust matters connected with the Circle and also to elect an executive committee to deal with any conditions that might arise. Messrs R. Hook, Lankshear, and Eichardson were appointed to fill the position. The Circle has only been in existence for seven months during which time it has more than doubled its membership, showing that those interested in eggproducing are beginning to appreciate the value of combination, both in railing their produce to market and bringing their foodstuffs back in bulk,' thus effecting a big saving in freight both ways. It is proposed to shortly invite the Government expert to visit Shannon and give a demonstration, followed by an address, to which all persons interested in egg production (however small their flock) will be welcomed. It might be mentioned that great, efforts are being made to put the export trade on a sound and workable basis, which, if successful, will ensure a more stable price during the flush of the season. Moreover, although the idea is yet. in embryo, it is quite likely that the time will soon come, when every individual who sells eggs from his or her' own poultry will have to guarantee them (by registration), thus protecting the consumer from possibly a severe dose of “shell shock.”
