“MY TURN NEXT.”

AN ENJOYABLE ENTERTAINMENT

A fair audience greeted the party of Foxton entertainers at the Maoriland Theatre on Friday evening, when they presented a well selected concert programme and the dramatic farce “My Turn Next” in aid of the Methodist’ Church. The programme was varied and each item was well presented, the entertainment being enjoyed by those present, who showed their appreciation by the number of recalls. An amusing sketch “The B. Family,” a play upon words, commencing with. B and bringing in local allusions, brought forth much amusement and wad cleverly acted by Mrs Barron, Miss I. Patterson and Mr. G. F. Smith. The latter was also heard to advantage in elocutionary items. Mrs S. Barber, was in excellent voice, and received a well-deserved recall, while ithe dancing of Misses Roore, Olga Saville and Audrv Barron was very graceful and prettily executed. Mr. L. Milner also rdfceived a good reception for his humorous monologue number. The dramatic, farce “My Turn Next” which was well staged and produced, proved most amusing. Mr W. Ileyes as “Mr. Benjamin Twitters,” the newly wedded husband of a widow whose deceased husband used a number of aliasess to cover up his misdeeds, and whom “Twitters” took to be previous husbands whom his wife had caused to mysteriously disappear, carried out the paid well. Mrs Yeo, as “Mrs Twitters,” gave a very clever impersonation, as did Miss M. Delaney as the sister of “Mrs Twitters.”- The clear enunication and deportment of these ladies was excellent. “Tim Bolus,” (Mr. H. Hornblow), “Mr. Twitters” handy man, and the maid “Peggy” (Mrs "Barron) were the fun makers of the piece. The latter was in her element in the part, which she acted to perfection, while the droll antics of “Tim Bolus” made a fitting counterpart. Messrs Bullard (a “commercial traveller”) and M. E. Perreau (“Farmer Wheat-ear”) filled the minor parts.
