SHANNON AMATEUR ATHLETIC AND CYCLING SPORTS.
TO-MORROW
Given a fine day to-morrow there should be a large' attendance at the Athletic Club’s sports to be held in the Domain. The entries for the various events have come in well, and include some well known athletes, Wellington, Dannevirke, Takapau, Colyton, Palmerston North Clubs being represented, as well as the neighbouring clubs. An inspection made of the cycling and running tracks shows that tire committee have them in splendid order and some good times should be registered by competitors. The Highland dancing should create interest, Mr P. and J. McKenzie, of Palmerston North will officiate as judge and piper for these events. Mr. G. Watson, of Levin, will be in his usual place as official starter and Mr. J. R. Whyte, of Tokoinaru as timekeeper. The catering this year is being undertaken by the Club and patrons can be assured of nothing 'wanting in this respect. The members of the Club have worked hard to make this meeting a success and given a fine day it is hoped their efforts will receive, the support of all. The first event will commence at noon.
