BOWLING.

On Saturday afternoon four rinks from the Palmerston North Bowling Club visited the local club. The visitors were welcomed by 7 Mr. A. 11. Morgan, who assured them that it was very pleasing to local players to receive visits from Palmerston North rinks, and lie felt sure they would spend a very 7 pleasant afternoon. The day was ideal for bowling, and the green was in fair order, considering the continued dry weather. All the games proved enjoyable,. being keenly contested, the visitors being the victors on the aggregate by 7 eleven points. At the conclusion of the afternoon’s play, Mr. W. E. Jones, on behalf of the visitors, thanked the Club for their hospitality, cheers being given for the player's and the Croquet ladies, who provided afternoon tea. Following are the results of the games played, Palmerston North being mentioned first in each instance:— Croucher, Eunis, Croad, W. Wit Jones (s) 14 v. McLaggan, Lee, Wnibley, Knowles (s) 17 ( . Choate, Frew, Kcrslake, Bell (s) 27 v. E. Butt, Hudson, Gagliardi, Morgan (s) 12. ' Fairo, Bennett, Gallichan, G. Stephenson (s) 25 v, Blackwood, 11. Butt, Roach, Jones (s) 24. - . Crawford, Findley, Beattie, W. E. Jones (s) 19 v. White, Braun, Bovis, E. J. S. Spencer (s) 21. CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS CONTEST. Notice has been received from the Manawatu Centre that the following dates have been fixed for the various Champion of Champions contests this season: — . Singles contest, Manawatu green, Saturday, March 10th, 9 a.m. Pairs contest,’ Terrace End green, Saturday, March 17th, 9 a.m. Rinks contest (section finals), Palmerston green, Saturday, March 24tli, 9 a.m. In connection with the champion rinks contest this year the Executive has decided to cut up the areas into sections, viz.:. No 1, Woodville, Dannevirke, Pahiatua, Eketahuna 1 ; No. 2, Otaki, Levin, Shannon, Foxton; 3, Palmerston, Manawatu, Terrace End, Takaro; No. 4, Fcilding, Oroua, Northern.

Numbers 1,2, and 3 will play on the sudden death principle, while -1 will decide between themselves their method of pjay. The winners of each section will then play off as stated above.

Communications regarding this matter have been received from both Shannon and Levin Clubs. Shannon suggests that the clubs in No. 2 area play ;fs follows: —Shannon v. Foxton; Otaki v. Foxton; the winners to play off. Draw for greens for each game. , Levin suggests that the four clubs concerned meet on the Levin green to decide the district winner.
