FRUIT STAINING
With the fruit season-in full swing the question of straining fruit juice for jelly making is occupying the attention of many housewives who stock their own store cupboards. It is usually a long and tiresojne process, but it may be safely left to look after itself during the night if a very simple expedient is employed. Take a large piece of flannel suitable for straining, and form it into the usual tapering bag. To the four corners sew securely lengths of strong tape. Now take two substantial kitchen chairs, and by means of the tapes suspend the bag between them, standing the chairs back to back. Place a large bowl below to catch the juice of the fruit. With a heavy weight of fruit in the bag it is necessary to place a counter weight of some kind on the seat of each chair. This will prevent them from tipping up. Next morning the fruit will be strained ready for use.
