It is a matter for some comment and much relief (writes a London correspondent) that the private mourning which is still being worn by the .Royal ladies is considerably lighter than would have been the case a few years ago.

Black laeo is particularly popular with several Royal ladies 'for evening wear, and Princess Arthur of Connaught, was wearing a delightful dress of this at the New Princess one night recently.

Princess Arthur danced indefatigably, and seemed well up in the newest steps.
